  1. #About#
The Retazo Coat from Sew Liberated is a shapely quilt coat, supplied as a printed multi-size sewing pattern. It has two-piece raglan sleeves, princess seams on the front and back, a curved collar and deep pockets set into the side front panels.
You can make it in three ways. A thrifted quilt or pre-quilted fabric gives the quickest results. You can also use your woven scraps and the quilt-as-you-go method: each panel is pieced and quilted on its own, then cut out and assembled into the coat. That takes longer, but every coat ends up one of a kind.
The hems and sleeves are finished with facings in a contrast fabric, which is also used for the undercollar, and the front closes with sew-on snaps. It's a cosy, characterful layer for autumn and winter and a great way to give a much-loved quilt or a scrap stash a new life.
  2. #Fabric#
Designed for quilted fabric: an existing quilt, pre-quilted fabric, or woven scraps that you quilt yourself onto soft, flexible cotton batting with a cotton sheeting, quilting cotton or broadcloth backing. You will also need a lightweight, stable, non-stretch contrast fabric such as cotton sheeting, quilting cotton or cotton broadcloth for the facings and undercollar.
  3. #Notions#
    0.5m lightweight fusible interfacing.
    5 to 9 x 19mm sew-on snaps.

Quilting machine needles (size 75/11 or 90/14) for the quilted panels.
Heavy duty machine needles for the main assembly.
Thread to match your backing fabric.
  4. #Skill Level#
